Follow the steps below to integrate Mesh to Xero, your cloud-based accounting software.
Note: Before you begin the integration, ensure that the first two steps are completed.
1. Create relevant Custom Fields
Create Accounts and Vendors custom fields on the Mesh platfrom.
Notes:
- The vendors in Xero are called contacts and you can find them under https://go.xero.com/app/!b520z/contacts/all.
- You can add more, non-vanilla, Custom Fields (e.g., Department) under https://go.xero.com/Setup/Tracking.aspx.
2. Add a Mesh bank account on Xero
2.1 Navigate to Accounting >> Bank Accounts >> Add bank account >> Add without bank feed
2.2 Make sure it the account was added successfully.
2.3 Navigate to Accounting >> Chart of Accounts, click the Mesh Payments account, add a Code, and click Save.
Note: If the Xero company currency differs from the Mesh bank currency, you MUST create a clearing account and configure it under the General Ledger section of the integration page.
3. Integrate Mesh and Xero
3.1 Log into your Mesh account with a user that has permissions to the 'Integration Store'.
3.2 Navigate to upper left side, click your company name and then 'Company Settings'.
3.3 Scroll to integrations and click 'Integration Store'.
3.4 Locate the 'Xero' tile under the 'Accounting' section.
3.5 Click the 'Connect' button.
3.6 Click the 'Connect To Xero Account' button.
3.7 Log into your 'Xero' account.
3.8 Click 'Not now'.
Note: This seems to be a Xero setup that you can ignore or take care at a later stage.
3.9 Click 'Allow access' on the Xero consent form.
3.10 Enable the integration, add info to all relevant fields, and click the 'Update' button to store the configuration.
Note: Y0u need to add a Mesh bank account through your Xero account and also create relevant custom fields on the Mesh end. Navigate to the bottom of this article to learn how to do it.
3.11 Wait for a 'Xero configuration was successfully updated and validated' message.
3.12 Navigate to Company Settings >> Integrations >> Xero page and click the 'refresh the Xero Fields' to sync data from Xero to the Mesh custom fields.

4. Sync transactional data to Xero
4.1 Sync a single transaction
4.1.1 Prior to syncing make sure that the transaction includes all relevant data including, spend category, memo, receipt and relevant Xero tags.
4.1.2 Navigate to the Transactions page, click the 3-dots next to a 'Transactions' and then click the 'Sync To Xero' link.
4.2 Sync multiple transactions
4.2.1 prior to syncing make sure that the transaction includes all relevant data including, spend category, memo, receipt and relevant Xero tags.
4.2.2 Navigate to the 'Transactions' page, check all the relevant transactions that you want to sync then navigate to the upper right slide, click the 3-dots, then 'Xero' and finally 'Sync to Xero'.
Notes:
- On the 'Transactions' page, review the 'Last Sync Date' and 'Integration' columns to confirm the sync date and the success status of the operation. If a sync error message appears, contact our team at support@meshpayments.com.
- It is possible to sync data from the Accounting page.
